The Launch of Color Sensor
“The Global Marketing Team within Decorative Paints AkzoNobel, responsible for professional painters, concluded after an extensive customer journey research project that there was a key opportunity to provide more added value to painters worldwide – not only through products but also through service solutions that support them in their daily work. This initiative aimed to drive a shift from being a pure product supplier to becoming a true business partner for painters.
One of the main pain points identified in the painters’ journey was advising their clients on color choices. An underlying insight was that many painters do not feel comfortable giving color advice — they don’t see themselves as color consultants or interior stylists. Nix’ Color Sensor was therefore selected as one of the key tools to support painters in the area of color advice.
Color Sensor scans the color of a sample or any inspiration item provided by the client, and within seconds matches it to the colors available in AkzoNobel’s color portfolio. Color Sensor thus helps painters enable their customers to make faster, more accurate, and more confident color choices.
As a result, painters can deliver the perfect color match and ensure higher customer satisfaction. In turn, the Color Sensor also helps strengthen brand preference — a clear win-win situation.
Today, more than 65,000 Color Sensors have been rolled out across over 20 markets worldwide. However, this success did not come easily – it required significant time, effort, and collaboration.
From the very beginning, PARADOX was not only a distributor but a true partner.
They provided dedicated solutions for early app and operating system challenges, helped us elevate color accuracy to an even higher level, and used analytics to identify what worked and what didn’t. In addition, PARADOX played a key role in supporting the rollout of Color Sensor across different markets, providing a wide range of implementation and deployment support.”
